An Overview of the Products
Trey, the owner of the store, gave me an overview of the products his store carries:
“We carry a very wide variety of gourmet cooking ingredients and over 80 types of teas. Our custom blends are unique to our brand. Our flavored salts and sugars will surprise and impress you. All of our ingredients are of the highest quality and only contain artificial ingredients when it avoids allergens (such as artificial coconut flavoring, so that those with tree nut allergies may still enjoy).
Our products are rotated every 6 months to provide maximum freshness and that sets us apart from larger suppliers that may have product sitting in warehouses for a year before even making it to the grocery shelf. We also only source the highest quality product that has gone through extensive testing.”
Additional Offerings
Along with the impressive variety of teas and spices, they also offer:
- Flavored honey sourced from North Carolina that can help with allergies
- Flavored maple syrups from Vermont
- Olive oils direct from Italy! Their olive oils are infused with flavor during the olive pressing, not afterward with concentrates. For example, their lemon olive oil is made by pressing both lemons and olives together to create a superior flavor.

Spice & Tea Exchange Events
The official grand opening will be from November 14–16, during which time they’ll offer a storewide 10% discount on all consumables. They’re also participating in the Witches Night Out on October 24 from 5–9 p.m. They’ll be open an hour later for this event and will have themed samples.
They will also offer a variety of events in the new year, such as:
- Tea tastings
- Various classes related to cooking and teas
- Follow your nose “scavenger hunts” where guests will smell products and try to identify what they are
- Book clubs and tea clubs hosted by locals
Hours, Rewards, and Job Opportunities
The Spice & Tea Exchange is open every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Trey told me they don’t close their doors until the last customer leaves.
They also offer membership deals with their generous rewards program. For every $100 you spend, you get $10 off your next purchase. Their system tracks the rewards, so there are no coupons or store bucks, or anything you have to remember. And the “points” never expire!
If you or anyone you know is interested in working in the world of tea and spices, Trey is always collecting applications for cooking and tea lovers, and he expects they will also need some seasonal help.
Trey said the most important part of the job is assisting their guests in finding, using, and enjoying their products, and any aspiring applicants must be very sociable, willing to chat as much or as little as their guests would like. Being able to answer questions and give recommendations are the most important parts of the job.
