Meet the Apex Owners
Peace, Love and Little Donuts is a family-run franchise and is locally owned and operated.
Many in the local Apex community might recognize the owners of PLLD, Chazz Washington and his mom Heather Washington, from the pet store they own in town, Groomingdales, which specializes in dog grooming.
Chazz grew up in Apex—attending Baucom Elementary and graduating from Apex High School, Class of 2017! His mom, Heather, has lived and worked in Apex for much of her life.
They first discovered Peace, Love and Little Donuts while visiting family friends in Louisiana—their friends happened to own a location there.
They told me, “The moment we walked in, we knew our town needed something like this. After visiting the original shop in Pittsburgh’s Strip District in 2021, we officially started the journey to bring it home to Apex. After a long search for the right spot, we’re thrilled to be opening in the new Sweetwater community.”

Peace, Love and Little Donuts was founded by Ron and Marci Razete in 2009 after receiving a donut machine as a gift from friends.

What started as a tiny shop in Pittsburgh has grown to over 29 locations across 11 states.
Their mission? Create bold, delicious, and groovy flavors—without ever compromising the taste of a warm, fresh, old-fashioned cake donut. Every donut is made so that the frosting and toppings complement (not overpower) the donut itself.
Vegan and Gluten-Friendly Options
Chazz says all the donuts are made fresh on-site and customers can watch the entire process!
They will offer vegan and gluten-friendly options.
Here’s what they mean by gluten-friendly:
“Our gluten-friendly donuts are made with a batter that contains no gluten or dairy. However, because all of our donuts are prepared in the same facility where gluten is present, we use the term gluten-friendly rather than gluten-free out of an abundance of transparency and caution.”
“We take significant steps to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, including using separate oil, frostings, and toppings for our gluten-friendly options. That said, trace amounts of gluten may still be present. We advise customers with severe allergies or sensitivities to consider this before ordering.”

Along with their adorable logo, they’re also excited to be featuring a custom mural by Rachel Castaneda, and they’re partnering with local Apex coffee roaster Peak City Coffee!
Peace, Love and Little Donuts of Apex is located at 2826 Teachey Place, Apex, NC 27523 in the Harris Teeter shopping center at Sweetwater.
Their planned hours, which are subject to change, are:
Mon-Thurs: 6am-5pm
Friday: 6am-8pm
Saturday: 7am-8pm
Sunday: 8am-4pm
Grand Opening Information
PLLD is planning a soft opening at the end of September and to be fully open in October! They will be hiring a full team—both front and back of house positions—so make sure to follow them on Instagram (@plldapex) and check out their website for upcoming job postings.
